Interior design / Commercial refurbishment

The Glassblowing House Restaurant, The Barbican, Plymouth

The Glassblowing House, a listed building, set on the quay side of the historic Sutton Harbour, The Barbican was originally built as a demonstration space to display the art of glassblowing to the public.

The design challenge was to convert a building designed to quickly expel excess heat into a comfortable space suitable for dining whilst conforming to current energy efficient building regulations. This challenge was sympathetically met with a stylish interior design and aesthetically pleasing large glazed doors provided to maximise the view of the harbour.

Health Care

Pearn Convalescent Home, Day Care Centre and Almshouses, Plymouth

The design was based on an Italian renaissance ordered subservient ‘gate house’ sensitively reflecting elements of the previously demolished Pearn House. Internally the day care centre was designed with passive natural ventilation, under floor heating and a solar thermal store to provide a comfortable and uplifting environment for the occupants.
