Saltash Cross and Elwell Woods Redevelopment

space design were appointed architects and CDM Coordinators for the construction of a 20m high Celtic Cross situated adjacent to the Tamar Bridge in order to provide a inspirational threshold into Cornwall. The adjacent unused woodland was also respectfully redeveloped to provide a much need community amenity space.



Contemporary Dwelling, Plaidy, Looe

space design were appointed to provide a contemporary dwelling for a local family on a sloping site with outstanding sea views. A simple palate of white render, timber cladding and grey aluminium windows create a relaxed, unpretentious, seaside facade which was enhanced by glazed folding doors and a terrace that extends the length of the elevation to the stair tower with a glazed viewing area. The dwelling benefits from many environmentally friendly features such as solar panels, thermal store, heat pumps and natural ventilation.

Holiday Lodge, South Hams

An attractive organic design for a high specification was provided for a two storey holiday lodge constructed with local stone and timber clad walls together with a natural slate roof. The open plan living accommodation was positioned on the top floor to maximise the outstanding views over the South Hams.

Sports and Leisure

Domestic Swimming Pool and Dwelling Refurbishment, Quethiock

space design were tasked to provide a high quality swimming pool house for a domestic client. The £1m pool design provides a garden pavilion aesthetic with a copper roof and local granite stone walls supported by a green oak timber frame. In association with the swimming pool works, the adjoining residential was also sensitively refurbished to a high standard.

Commercial / Retail

Retail extension and redevelopment of Regal House, Saltash

We were appointed as architects and CDM coordinators to convert a former job centre into a retail unit for The Original Factory Shop. The works included internal redevelopment of the existing shop together with a two storey rear extension and single storey side extension. The popular shop has assisted in the regeneration of Fore Street and comfortably sits within the local context.

Fore Street Regeneration, Saltash

A comprehensive feasibility study was carried out to review commercial and practical opportunities to regenerate Fore Street, Saltash in order to provide an attractive shopping and commercial centre for local residents and visitors. To accompany the comprehensive report, a 3D model was provided of the entire Saltash Town Centre.

Redevelopment of Victoria Cottages for the National Trust

Victoria Terrace is Grade 2 listed building and is located in a rural location owned by the National Trust at Bohetherick, on the Cotehele Estate. The scheme completely refurbished the existing dwellings and added rear extensions to provide downstairs toilet accommodation. The key consideration in the redevelopment was to sensitively thermally upgrade the properties without effecting aesthetics within the guidelines set by the listing of the dwellings.
